Chance for a garden without weeds!

My good friend, Judy, is having a contest. Go check out her blog and enter to win. Make sure you follow her, too. Her blog is interesting, informative, and funny.

So, even if you don't sew, you can enjoy her information and stories, and if you win, I can make your quilt.

Enjoy!

Pillowcase Challenge

A weekly Challenge! Interesting and fun, for charity. It is something to make you feel good about using your sewing skills, trying something new, pushing your skills, and giving something to help others.

Shannon was at it again Monday, April 4th, and since she is a friend, and I like a challenge, I did it again. I must admit I was really glad she gave us some time this week. http://fabricsnquilts.blogspot.com/

I won the Just One Star challenge last week. (Yeah, pretty fat quarters!!) I plan to make some more stars, after I finished the one last week. This week's was about The Million Pillowcase Challenge. http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/millionpillowcases/

I had planned to make at least 4 pillowcases during Lent, and was reminded of my pledge when Shannon posted her blog. So, I spent a few days, amid other projects and creating class samples, to dig for the fabric I had set aside for pillowcases. An Ebay order from Dale Ray Fabrics provided the fabrics. They had gotten a supply of sheeting from the Springmaid Wamsutta factory, and I bid on quite a few bits of 90inch wide fabric, about a yard each. So, I cut these into rectangles and pulled some really pretty wine solid fabric that I felt coordinated out of my stash. I used the Burrito/Sausage pillowcase instructions, and they went together very quickly. I hadn't made this type of pillowcase before, so it was interesting to see how easy and fast they were. Since I have a serger, I didn't do french seams for the body seams, just stitched them and serged them.

My local Quilt Shop, Pocono Sew & Vac had a Pillowcase Challenge sewing day last Sunday, but I wasn't able to attend. I will bring my 4 cases to them for their donations.

I plan to make more, too. So, go grab your fabric, and sew for a cause. I will be doing a Sit and Sew at Enright's Fabric Warehouse on Tuesday, so you can join me and make a pillowcase, too.

It feels good!
